Summary

Cropmarks of undated linear ditches are visible on aerial photographs. One of the ditches has a similar alignment to undated field system cropmarks further to the northwest (NHER 43613). It is likely that all of ditches are field boundaries. Two of them cross a large ring ditch cropmark of probable Bronze Age date (NHER 43611).

Map

May 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated linear ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These cropmarks are centred on TM 3061 8779. Four sections of linear ditch cropmark are present. Two of these form T-shaped arrangement and are probably related to each other. It is probable that they are field boundaries, but their alignment does not match the post medieval field pattern or an undated coaxial field system to the northeast (NHER 43612). The other two ditch cropmarks cross a large ring ditch of probable Bronze Age date (NHER 43611). The longest of these two ditches, which extends from TM 3061 8780 and TM 3064 8783, lies roughly parallel to the coaxial field system to the northwest (NHER 43613) and may form part of it. The fourth ditch cropmark lies entirely within the large ring ditch and is of unknown date. It is possible that all of these ditch cropmarks relate to field boundaries, but their dates are uncertain.
