Full Description
September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of possible field boundaries of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs to the west of Beach Road, Eccles on Sea (S1 and S2). The site is centred on TG 4090 2883. These appear to underlie the post medieval and modern field boundaries, although it is possible that they are part of the post medieval pre-Enclosure field layout. These cropmarks appear to overlie another group of cropmarks (NHER 43634), which are probably Iron Age to Roman in date.
The cropmarks consists of two intermittent parallel linear ditches, running east to west from approximately TG 4067 2884 to TG 4101 2883, which are on a different alignment and cut by the modern and later post medieval field boundaries. To the north of this is a fragmentary L-shaped ditch, with a possible parallel ditched component. Although it is not entirely clear, these ditches would appear to run up to the northern east to west ditch
