Map

September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a trackway of unknown, but possible Iron Age to Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the east of Beach Road, Eccles on Sea (S1). The site is centred on TG 4051 2867. These cropmarks were previously recorded under NHER 36767. The trackway is possibly associated with a probable Iron Age to Roman in date enclosure complex and field system to the northeast. The eastern end of the trackway does follow a similar SW-NE alignment as the enclosure and field system. The trackway shows no obvious relationship with the other cropmarks sites to the immediate east (NHER 36767 and 43635).

The trackway is slightly sinuous and runs from TG 4047 2860 to TG 4055 2871. The ditches are 1-2m wide and are quite irregular and have possibly been recut at some point.
S. Massey (NMP), 13 September 2005.
