Map

This site was previously recorded within the medieval settlement of Ness in Mautby, see NHER 11910.
S. Spooner (NLA) 9 May 2006

A lighthouse is mentioned in 1688 as being at Ness, see (S1).
It is marked on (S2), considerably out to sea from the present coastline.

(S3) marks two lighthouses here - presumably one on the cliff, one on the beach as usual - which he calls Winterton Ness Lights or the Thoughts Lights (sic).
Some of the information entered under NHER 8576 may be a confusion with this site.
E. Rose (NLA), 7 August 2001.
