Map

September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A dispersed group of fragmentary and multi-phase cropmarks, consisting of ditched features and field boundaries, is visible on aerial photographs to the north and east of the Old Rectory, Hempstead (S1 to S5). The site is centred on TG 4032 2857.

Centred on TG 4021 2859 is a small group of cropmarks, which are likely to be field boundaries or enclosure fragments. Although little can be said of the features themselves, they do appear to be aligned in the direction as possible Iron Age to Roman field systems to the northeast (NHER 43634) and southeast (NHER 43386). The remainder of the cropmarks and ditches are too fragmentary and incomplete to warrant any description.

A series of narrow parallel ditches in alignment with modern and post medieval fields were not mapped as it is likely they relate to modern drainage and agriculture.
S. Massey (NMP), 13 September 2005.
