Summary

This brick barn was built in 1666. This date is picked out in bricks with the initials SIM/ISM? on the street façade. The crow-stepped gables have very elaborate moulded brick gable corbels.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Barn. Dated 1666 in very large framed brick characters along street façade; associated with initials S.I.M. Brick with pantiled roof. Two large doorways on street façade. Crow-stepped gables with very elaborate moulded brick gable corbels Initials I.S. and E.B. formed by tie-ends to south. Vertical ventilation slits with raised borders."

Alan Carter Building Survey.
Brick-built barn on a brick plinth, aligned north-south. Six bays, overall length 25metres. On the west wall are the date 1666 and the initials ISM - note different arrangement of initials to that recorded above.
