Full Description
September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of post medieval drainage ditches and field boundaries and are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Calthorpe Farm, Ingham (S1-S4). The site is centred on TG 4041 2565.
The majority of the linear features visible on the aerial photographs appear to be post medieval drainage channels and field boundaries. The curvilinear ditches to the east of this in particular appear to follow the line of the drains still in use to the east. The majority of these features are unlikely to be of any great antiquity or archaeological significance. However there are a few fragmentary cropmarks which do not necessarily fit onto this pattern of post medieval field boundaries and drains, such as the ditches centred on TG 4018 2558. It is possible that these represent earlier and undated field boundaries.
S. Massey (NMP), 31 September 2005.
