Summary

An 18th century timber framed cottage with a thatched roof. There is evidence of an earlier structure within the house, which is built on a lobby-entrance plan.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Cottage. 18th century with traces of an earlier structure. Timber frame faced with colourwashed brick and some flint. Thatched roof. Lobby-entrance type plan. One storey with attic. Façade with 5 19th century 2-light casements with glazing bars beneath segmental arches. Rectangular porch with doorway opposite off-centre axial stack."

(S2) states that Charles I hid here one night in 1646. This is not impossible (cf. Snore Hall NHER 4463) if there is an older core but evidence is required.
