Summary

The earthworks of a post medieval earthwork bank and ditch are visible on aerial photographs on Blocka Hill, Fritton Poorland. The bank, which is not visible on any available historic maps, is likely to have been a property or land boundary. The bank feature is visible as an earthwork on relatively recent (2022) visualised lidar data. The ditch feature is presumed to have been levelled but may still survive as very low earthwork.

The earthworks of a post medieval earthwork bank and ditch are visible on aerial photographs on Blocka Hill, Fritton Poorland (S1). The site is centred on TM 4642 9971. The bank, which is 66m long and 3m wide, is likely to have been a property or land boundary and is not visible on any available maps. The ditch, which is visible in two sections, is slightly sinuous and runs alongside the Beccles Road to the north. These earthworks are now plough levelled (S2).

August 2025. Record reviewed as part of the Forestry Commission Project K.
The bank feature (see above) mapped in the south of the record is visible as an earthwork on visualised lidar data flown in 2022. (S4) As the survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the feature still survives as an earthwork.
