Summary

The slight earthworks of a three small ring ditches, interpreted as a post medieval stack stands, are visible on aerial photographs within marshes to the east of Hickling Priory. Other ring ditches, interpreted as possible stack stands have been mapped to the north, see NHER 42059-60 and 42071.

The slight earthworks of a three small ring ditches, interpreted as a post medieval stack stands, are visible on aerial photographs within marshes to the east of Hickling Priory (S1). Other ring ditches, also interpreted as possible stack stands have been mapped to the north, see NHER 42059-60 and 42071. The site is centred on TG 4224 2473. The three ring ditches each measure between 17-20m in diameter. This size is towards the higher end of the 6-18m size range displayed by these features in the Wash area (S2).
