Full Description
May 2005. Monitoring survey.
Part of a wreck was seen during the March 2003 walkover survey (NHER 37792) and was thought to be part of a groyne or a revetment. In light of the experience gained during the Norfolk Coastal Survey (NHER 40310), it is clearly not part of a revetment but part of a wreck. The wreck is partial, comprising part of prow and port side. Carvel built, it is made from horizontal timber planks, at least thirteen timber ribs and numerous iron fittings. It measures about 7.2m long by at least 1m tall. It is located between TF 70830 45253 and TF 70836 45249 (this location was surveyed using a total station in March 2003). It is within a tidal scour measuring about 30m east to west by 17m north to south. This wreck has not been recorded before. It is located to the southwest of a ballast-filled wreck recorded as HER 21961.
A single large curved timber (measuring 6m by 0.92m wide) was found 155m to the southwest of the wreck at TF 70690 45186. It may have come from it.
