Summary

An earthwork of a mound and ditch of unknown date or function is visible on aerial photographs. It is possible that this was a late prehistoric barrow, but it is too incomplete to be certain. It was partly truncated in 1946 and had been levelled by 1988.

An earthwork of a mound and ditch of unknown date or function is visible on aerial photographs (S1). This earthwork was located at TM 3422 9106. The low earthwork mound was not complete, but was truncated by a track and garden boundaries on its northeast side. The surviving part of the mound had a sub-oval plan and measured 11m by 9.5m in size. It was surrounded on its west south and east sides by a shallow 2.5m wide ditch. The incomplete condition of this earthwork makes it impossible to determine its original form and function. It lies 350m to the southwest of the Broome Heath Neolithic long barrow (NHER 10597), 50m from the Neolithic enclosure (NHER 10602) and close to a number of Bronze Age round barrows (NHER 10611, 10624). It is possible that this earthwork is also of prehistoric date. Its elongated plan suggests that it could have formed part of another long barrow, rather than a round barrow. The remaining part of the earthwork, which was visible in 1946 (S1), had been levelled and built over by 1988 (S2).
