Full Description
July 2006. Norfolk NMP
Earthworks of an irregular mound and pits are visible on aerial photographs (S1). This earthwork is located at TM 3362 9327. A low mound with a roughly trapezoidal plan is present adjacent to Bungay Road. It measures up to 62m by 47m and appears to have a number of irregular pits cut into it. It is likely that this earthwork relates to quarrying activity, possibly for road repairs in the post medieval period. However, it is not marked on the 1838 Thwaite tithe map (S2) or later maps.
