Full Description
July 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of field boundaries of probable medieval to early post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S5). These cropmarks are centred on TM 3421 9293. A group of incomplete rectilinear fields are present on a roughly north to south and west to east alignment. The most complete field is located at TM 3421 9284. It has a rectangular plan and measures 174m by 56m. Although these field boundaries have a similar alignment to the post medieval field pattern none are marked on the 1840 Broome tithe map (S6). It is likely that they are of medieval to early post medieval date. Cropmarks of pits of unknown date or function are present in the western part of this group of fields.
J. Albone (NMP), 10 July 2006.
