Full Description
July 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs within arable to the north of The Grove, Aldeby (S1). The site is centred on TM 4514 9519, although this point does not correspond to an archaeological feature associated with this site on the ground. These cropmarks are located within a larger multi-phase spread of cropmarks, recorded under NHER 44873, the majority of which are likely to be field boundaries of several phases.
The field boundaries grouped together under this site follow similar alignment and appear to form fragments of a rectilinear field system. Double ditched arrangement of boundaries at two instances within the site could indicate trackways running alongside the fields.
