Full Description
August 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Three pit-like cropmarks are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S1), between TG 4452 1566 and TG 4455 1556. Their roughly equal size, even spacing, circular shape and alignment with each other, suggests that they could represent a line of World War Two bomb craters. The intended target for any bombs is not clear, although a pillbox is recorded in the vicinity (at TG 4435 1595) in a gazetteer of WWII defences (S2). Alternatively, the cropmarks might simply be the product of recent agricultural activity.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 4 August 2006.
