Map

March - August 2003. Excavation. Bacton to King's Lynn Transco pipeline. Construction section 38, plot number 90.
Excavation revealed medieval pits containing fired clay and post holes which were generally concentrated within the southeastern corner. A circular structure was defined by a group of post holes, an external drip gully and a concave surface. The concentration of pits and the structure appeared to have been respected by a curvilinear enclosure or boundary ditch.
Two post medieval ditches which may have been part of a rectilinear field system. Finds from this site include a sherd of Iron Age pottery; Late Saxon pottery; post-medieval bricks, pantile and possible floor tile; struck flint of unknown date; fragments of a lava quern and a schist whetstone; animal bone assemblage mainly comprising cattle and sheep bones.
