Map

November 2002 - January 2003. Geophysical survey. Bacton to King's Lynn Transco pipeline. Construction section 39, plot number 88.
Geophysical survey identified a substantial group of linear and pit-like anomalies, which appeared to relate to known manorial and ecclesiastical buildings, enclosures, and associated field systems. A series of enclosures containing a complex of structures and features were recorded by geophysical survey. The findings are thought to be the remains of a deserted medieval village, with an earlier large kidney-shaped enclosure and track to the northeast. Some of the anomalies correlated with a cropmark of a former church and manor house (NHER 12525) located immediately north of the proposed route.

March - August 2003. Excavation. Plot 88
Excavation revealed a dispersed scatter of late prehistoric pits and post holes. Later prehistoric pottery from two large pits was amongst the few dateable artefacts recovered.
Two ?medieval or later pits and a probable post hole.
An undated series of gullies with similar alignments, profiles and plan forms appeared to define a rectilinear field system.
