Summary

Downham Lodge Farmhouse dates to the late 16th century, was extended in the early 17th century, and was encased in brick in 1873 by the Kimberley estate. The house is timber-framed, completely encased in brick, and has a decorative plain tile roof. This two storey building is on an extended lobby-entrance plan, with a later lean-to addition at the rear. This is a fine example of a timber-framed farmhouse upgraded with a carefully detailed encasing in the 19th century by the Kimberley estate, forming a group with the nearby barn (NHER 45537).
