January 1988. Building Survey.
The building is said traditionally to date to 1671, which seems convincing given the date of other buildings in the village. Originally timber-framed with brick wrap-around gables - the brink front being a 19th-century addition. It orginated as a rather unusual Class-T house, unusual for not having a central service room and because its first floor rooms were open to the roof. The stacks are asymmetrical with two flues to the south and only one to the north. The extension and alterations can be dated to c. 1800, the most interesting of which is the dairy with its length of cooling benches and unusual windows.
See report (S2) for detailed description, floor plan and drawings of architectural details.
