Summary

An 18th century two storey L-shaped house of red brick with a black pantile roof. Anna Sewell, who wrote 'Black Beauty', lived here from 1867 to 1878.

House, 18th century of red brick with black pantiles. L-shaped plan, two storey, the eastern wing being slightly lower. Attached to adjoining building. East façade of three bays, sash windows with glazing bars and segmental brick arches at ground floor level. South façade two bays with entrance door to left. Five panel part glazed door with timber doorcase with moulded architrave, key block and projecting pediment on consoles. Sash windows with glazing bars. First floor right hand casement window. Rendered plinth, timber bracketed eaves, parapet gable with brick kneelers and stone copings. End stacks. Axial stacks on north south range and at roof intersection. Home of Anna Sewell from 1867 to 1878, authoress of 'Black Beauty'.
