Summary

This large pale brick and red brick house has some stonework and a date of 1834 on the chimney shafts. The main block forms a cross wing with the gable ends slightly advanced in relation to the double pile service wing. The house is two storeys high with attics and vaulted cellars. The main north façade has three window bays with a pedimented and slightly advanced central bay flanked by plain paired pilasters and a stone porch with pilasters and a deep plain entablature. There is a coat of arms in a central pediment. Inside is a fine stone staircase, a vaulted hall, fine Regency plasterwork throughout the main rooms and a late 19th century fireplace with abstract geometrical motifs.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Large house. Dated 1834 on chimney shafts. Gault brick, some red brick and some stone. Concrete tiled roofs. Main block forms a cross wing with gable-ends only slightly advanced in relation to double pile service wing. Two storeys with attics and vaulted cellars. Main façade to north of three bays with pedimented and slightly advanced central bay flanked by plain paired pilasters...Stone porch with pilasters and deep plain entablature...Moulded brick platband, moulded cornices and arms in central pediment with motto "cor unum via una". Paired pilasters to angles and to pedimented gable-ends. Rear wing of three bays...South facade in red brick with slightly advanced lateral bays with broken pediments forming imposts of semicircular headed windows.
Interior. Fine stone flying stair with decorative cast iron balusters, lantern and plasterwork. Hall of three groin vaulted, three-centred bays. Fine Regency plasterwork throughout main rooms. One late 19th-century fireplace with abstract geometrical motifs designed by Jekyll and produced by Barnard, Bishop and Barnard (foundries) of Norwich."
