Summary

This building has had a varied history of use. It was the Thetford Mechanics' Institute, then a public library and is now a wine bar. It was built in 1887 using gault brick and slate for the roof. It stands one storey high and has five bays to Market Place, each bay separated by Tuscan pilasters or columns of rendered brick.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Thetford mechanics' institute, then public library, now wine bar. 1887. Gault brick under slate roof. One storey. Five bays to Market Place, each bay separated by Tuscan pilasters or columns of rendered brick. The columns frame the central half-glazed double-leaf doors under a round arch.
