Full Description
February 1986. Listed, Grade II.
This former farmhouse dates to the 17th century and later. It is constructed of a rendered timber frame on a tall brick plinth. It has brick gable-ends: one rendered, the other in English bond. The roof is covered with French pantiles and the building has two storeys. It was transformed into an L-shaped plan by the addition of a returned gable-end to the end bay of a former gutter wall. The northwest gable-end has four original openings with chamfered reveals beneath rectangular hood-moulds. The windows have modern frames. The northwest facade has two two-light and one three-light casement windows. The door to the house is modern. Two surviving 18th century windows with metal casements lie to the rear. 20th century additions include two rebuilt stacks, each with two shafts and moulded brick bases to former octagonal shafts. A modern shallow pitched roof is also visible. Inside, there are moulded bridging joists, original fireplaces with stucco ashlaring, moulded chamfers and barred stops. A decorative carved corbel supports a bridging joist.
