2008. Observation.
A building plan was provided by a descendant of a tenant who occupied the house between 1940 and 1953. At that time, the easternmost portion of the building had been separated into a discrete house and one room of that house served as the premises of a barber.
Sometime after 1991 the main hall of the house was converted to an art gallery. A visit to the house in 2008 revealed that several alterations have been made to the building since 1953, including removal of the dividing wall between the office and the main hall, incorporation of the former sculleries and kitchen into a single room, incorporation of the former larder and buttery into a single room, and the conversion of two bedrooms to bathrooms. The back stair had been boxed-in with tongue-and-groove planking in the 1950's, but this has now been removed along with a half-glazed door which once stood at the top of the central staircase. The internal wooden window-shutters in the Drawing Room and Lounge remains, as well as the original fireplaces in these rooms.
See (S2) for further details.
