This Friends' Meeting House was also known as 'Swafield' Meeting House even though the building was just outside of the parish. The Meeting House was built in 1772 replacing an earlier building of 1702 on the same site. There is a surviving inscription on a stone in the north wall, below the eaves, which gives the date '1772'. The same date and initials appear on many of the bricks in this north wall.
See (S2) for further details.
