Summary

This icehouse dates to around 1800. It is built from brick with stone jambs to the entrance and stone reinforcing beams in the entrance passage. The deep cylindrical chamber with brick domed top is completely below ground. The entrance passage is now blocked below ground level and lies to the west of chamber with access via a flight of brick steps. The iron hoist for lifting the ice is still in situ.

"Icehouse dating to around 1800. Header-bond brick, with stone jambs to the entrance and stone reinforcing beams in the entrance passage. Deep cylindrical chamber with brick domed top is completely below ground. Loading chute at top of dome."
