Summary

This house was built in 1919-22 by A. F. Scott and Sons of Norwich for W. H. H. Clarke. The building is made of red brick with a hipped slate roof and is of Georgian style. There are rusticated quoins at ends and on the slightly projecting centre bay. There is a moulded brick string course and a modillion cornice with egg and dart decoration also extends around central pediment. Inside there is an elaborate entrance hall with an Ionic columned screen and early Georgian style staircase with turned balusters and carved trend ends. The generally high quality interior includes fine doors and fireplace surrounds as well as dado panelling. The distinguished firm of Waring and Gillow may have been responsible for the woodwork in the house.
