Listing Description excerpt:
"Early 19th century house built on site of 16th-century predecessor, converted in 20th century to department store. Red brick, stuccoed and colourwashed to façade. 20th-century black-glazed pantiles to roof. Three storeys and dormer attic; two-window range. 20th-century plate-glass shop front under a fascia board extending left and right over adjacent premises. Upper two floors with a canted bay to the left...Moulded cornice below a Mansard roof. One flat-topped dormer...
INTERIOR: opened out as a sales area late 20th century. Bridging beams with acanthus consoles. Cellar retains patches of 16th-century brickwork…19th century rafter roof.

The location of this record has been corrected. Due to an erroneous grid reference associated with (S1) (now corrected) it was previously mapped as a point at TG 5239 0817. A similar issue occurred with the record for the adjacent building, 3 Howard Street South (NHER 48592). As a result it wasn't recognised that a combined record for these two buildings had previously been created at the correct location (NHER 34422). This has now been revoked and the two newer, separate records retained.
