Summary

Ducksfoot Farmhouse probably dates to the 16th century, unwent remodelling in the 17th or 18th centuries, and was extended in the 18th century and again in the 20th century. The building has two storeys and is constructed of plastered timber frame and clay lump, and has a steeply pitched pantile roof with barge-boards to the gable ends, which must date to the mid 16th century. There is an axial brick chimney stack to the right of the centre which was inserted in the 17th century to give an entrance-lobby, along with the three-bay main range. In the 18th century a two-storey one-room plan extension was built at the south end and in the 20th century a wing was added to the rear of the right hand end. This is possibly the best of all the many 16th to 19th century houses and farmhouses surrounding the village.
