Summary

This single-storey timber-framed building was originally thought to date to the 17th century but a subsequent survey identified evidence that it may have been a late medieval structure substantially rebuilt in the late 16th/17th century. It was reroofed in the 18th century and faced in brick in the 20th century.

July 1987. Building Survey.
Examined by A. Carter (UEA).
Originally a late medieval building with ?three-part plan, the remains of which were incorporated in major rebuilds of the 16th-/17th-century. At this time the building was extended to the east and the formerly open parlour was floored and converted to a hall/kitchen. A further phases of rebuilding took place in the 19th century (when the building was reroofed) and around 1900, when it was skinned in brick and refenestrated.
See report (S2) for further details.
