This building appears to be an early residential conversion of an agricultural bulding. The transverse bridging beams are all supprted on blocks planted on the principal posts and not integral. The massive stack must have been even later than the inserted first floor which is constructed without a narrow bay to accommodate it. The stack may have been inserted elsehwere in the end bay, or that there was a smoke bay or a large timber-framed flue or that the bulding was unheated. There is a clasped purlin roof with reduced principals with one of the trusses having a mortised collar the other lap-jointed. There was a very large opening in the east gable-end as suggested by the removal of the middle section of the tie beam.
