Summary

An earthwork of an undated linear ditch and a cropmark of a post medieval driveway are visible on aerial photographs. These features are located in the parkland surrounding Geldeston Hall. It is likely that the ditch relates to a medieval to post medieval field boundary, predating the establishment of the park. The driveway leading to the hall is shown on the first edition 1 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map.

Map

August 2006. Norfolk NMP
An earthwork of an undated linear ditch and a cropmark of a post medieval driveway are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These features are located in the parkland associated with Geldeston Hall at TM 3964 9240. An earthwork of a north to south aligned linear ditch is present for 37m between TM 39620 92445 to TM 39620 92480 (S1). It is likely that it predates the establishment of the park around Geldeston Hall in the late 18th century and could be a field boundary of medieval to early post medieval origin. A cropmark of a curving linear feature is present for 15m on a roughly southwest to northeast alignment between TM 3958 9233 and TM 3973 9241. It appears to relate to a former driveway to Geldeston Hall that is shown on the first edition 1 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map (S3).
