Earthworks of three World War Two slit trenches are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These earthworks are centred on TM 4412 9313. Three slit trenches were present on either side of the former Beccles to Great Yarmouth railway line. It is likely that they were positioned to defend the railway line and prevent it being used by the enemy in the event of an invasion. A further slit trench was located 350m to the southwest close to the former railway bridge across the River Waveney (NHER 45022).
