Full Description
September 2006. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of a road or footpath of possible medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TM 4076 9261. A cropmark of the compacted or metalled surface of a road or path is present. It extends intermittently for 570m on a roughly northwest to southeast alignment between TM 4051 9274 and TM 4100 9246. It continues the alignment of Rectory Road from the northwest and heads towards All Saints Church (NHER 10737) to the southeast. A footpath on roughly this route is shown on the 1839 Gillingham tithe map (S2) and first edition six inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map (S3). It is like that this road or footpath is of medieval to post medieval origin. Undated curvilinear ditch cropmarks cut across its route (NHER 45044).
