September 2014. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development site.
Two adjacent north-west to south-east aligned linear anomalies coincided with the recorded line of this cropmark. A number of other parallel and perpendicular linear anomalies were also recorded within the two fields examined, suggesting these features was probably part of a much more extensive former field system.
Information from draft report. See NHER 65679 for further details.

November 2015. Trial Trenching.
This phase of work saw two trench trenched excavated across the line of this cropmark. The two features identified by the preceding geophysical survey were shown to be a broad possible trackway and an adjacent ditch. It is likely that the cropmark was associated with the former. A mixed finds assemblage was recovered, comprising Iron Age pottery sherds, a Roman box tile and a small number of post-medieval objects. Although the post-medieval finds suggest a relatively recent date, it is notable that the alignments of these features are very much at odds with the orientation of the late post-medieval field system.
See report (S2) and NHER 65679 for further details.
