Map

October 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible late prehistoric or Roman date enclosure and associated trackway and boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the southeast of Crosswinds, Hickling (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 4027 2494. These cropmarks are overlain by the ditches forming part of two separate field systems, both of probable medieval to post medieval date (NHER 11876 and 38750).

A possible enclosure is located at TG 4029 2486 and measuring 115m by at least 140m, the southeastern end is open or incomplete. The enclosure is polygonal and rectilinear in shape with a trackway running alongside the eastern side. To the north and east of the fragments of ditch following the same alignment as the enclosure and these possibly represent associated boundaries and fields. The shape and style of the enclosure would suggest a late prehistoric or Roman date.
