Summary

Metal-detecting between 2006 and 2020 recovered prehistoric worked flints including flakes, scrapers, a core, piercer, fabricator and a Neolithic flaked axehead; Iron Age, Roman and medieval to post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and medieval/post-medieval tile fragments; a possible fragment of Roman window glass; undatable lava quern fragments; an undatable fragment of architectural limestone; an undatable whetstone; undated iron smelting slag; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons; post-medieval tokens and a range of other, Roman, medieval and post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman brooch, finger ring and furniture fitting; a Late Saxon brooch, strap end and stirrup terminal; a Late Saxon/medieval lead spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories (including a medieval gold finger ring and post-medieval silver dress fastener); medieval harness mounts, book fittings, copper alloy and lead seal matrices, a lead pot mend, lead spindle whorl and lead weights; medieval/post-medieval lead weights and monumental brass fragments and a post-medieval lead weight, lead cloth seal and lead alloy shot.
