Map

October 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a ring ditch of unknown definite date and origin are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Hobland Manor, Hopton on Sea (S1). The ring ditch is centred on TG 5134 0128 and 5m in diameter. This ring ditch may be the remains of prehistoric or Roman date round house or agricultural structure. A similarly sized ring ditch is located to the immediate east within a possible enclosure of late prehistoric to Roman date (NHER 45164). An alternative interpretation is that it the remains of a small round barrow, however it is noticeably smaller than other ring ditches interpreted as round barrow remains in the area, such as NHER 45168-73.
