Map

October 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible prehistoric trackway are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Browston Hall (S1-S3). The site is centred on TG 5002 0202. This trackway is located within an extremely complex area of cropmarks dating from the late prehistoric onwards, see NHER 17226 for details, and is cut by a post medieval road or track (NHER 45152).

The trackway is defined by a causewayed ditch and is visible for approximately 95m and is 12-16m across. The cropmarks would suggest that the southern ditch has been recut over time, as the broader causewayed ditch segments have been overlain or overlie a narrower ditch running along the same course. The characteristics of this trackway would suggest that it is part of a series of possible prehistoric trackways to the south, see NHER 43544 for details. Another short section of trackway runs parallel to this feature to the southwest (NHER 45178) and this is also thought to be prehistoric in origin.
