Map

October 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary field boundaries of possible Iron Age to Roman date are visible on aerial photographs to the southwest of Wheatcroft Farm (S1-S4). These cropmarks are located within an extremely complex area of cropmarks dating from the late prehistoric onwards. The site is centred on TG 5030 0234. The ditches are aligned NW-SE or NE-SW and it is possible that these are fragments of a field system or phase of boundaries. The arrangement and alignment of these ditches and field boundaries is similar to those recorded under NHER 45055 to the northeast and 45175 to the west. Although both of these systems are undated, a late prehistoric or Iron Age date seems most likely.
S. Massey (NMP), 23 October 2006.

May 2018. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed route of Lound to Gorleston Water Pipeline.
Although a trench excavated at TG 5019 0235 lay just to the west of a number of cropmarks in this group no potentially associated features were identified.
See NHER 63596 for further details.

March 2023. Assessment of the Character and Significance of East Anglian Field Systems project.
The site described above was included in the dataset analysed for the Historic England-funded Assessment of East Anglian Field Systems project. See the project report (S5) for further details.
