Summary

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in 2006, which uncovered the remains of a previously unknown brick-built medieval structure, as well as early post medieval structural remains which are possibly part of the blockhouse. A later phase of building proved to be a 19th century cockle shed.

Evaluation of proposed development site. Contexts 1-68.
Revealed the remains of a previously unknown brick-built medieval structure, as well as early post medieval structural remains which are possibly part of the blockhouse. A later phase of building proved to be a 19th century cockle shed.

June 2007. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of excavation of footing trenches for residential development.
A single fragment of late medieval pottery was recovered during the excavation of footings for a new residential development in this location. No other archaeological finds or features were encountered within this area.
