A post medieval drainage system is visible on aerial photographs on the Stiffkey saltmarshes (S1). These are likely to be part of the post medieval drainage and improvement of the saltmarshes.
A series of narrow roughly parallel ditches can be seen to form three separate drained areas. These are centred on TF 9840 4459, measuring 155m by 140m, at TF 9821 4453, 190m by 115m and at TF 9840 4451, measuring 170m square.
