Map

October 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A small group of cropmark boundaries of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Oak Farm, Hopton on Sea (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 5095 0085. These cropmarks are located within an extremely complex area of cropmarks dating from the late prehistoric onwards. A possible ring ditch is located to the immediate south of this site (NHER 45171), although it does not appear to be related.

The site consists of a small group of fragmentary ditches that appear to reveal a possible trackway or multiple ditched linear boundary. A number of ditch segments, running perpendicular to this linear, are visible to the immediate north and these are likely to be associated boundaries. These ditches are all aligned obliquely to the surrounding rectilinear cropmarks, which are thought to be post medieval in date (NHER 45155). It can be assumed that these ditches pre-date this phase of enclosure. The cropmarks also show no obviously relationship with the possible prehistoric trackway to the immediate north (NHER 43544).
