Map

October 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The remains of a possible group of former World War Two defences may be visible within the Hobland Hall parkland and plantation, Bradwell (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 5130 0147. A series of circular and oval marks and areas of disturbed ground on the grass and amongst the trees possibly indicate former defences, potentially temporary gun positions. Other World War Two defences are located on the southeastern edge of the parkland and woods, see NHER 52258-9 for details.

Within the trees at TG 5137 0142 is a possible small structure with a possible earthen enclosure or exposed ground surrounding it. To the west is a square pit and enclosing bank that looks freshly dug and may be a weapons pits or similar defensive structure. Within the park itself are two areas of parched or disturbed grass surrounding a sunken ovoid feature. The largest of these is located at TG 5131 0157. Within the disturbed ground surrounding this central feature are four equally rectangular areas of disturbance that cut into the surrounding raised area. It is possible that these mark the position of former structures or ammunition lockers around a temporary gun emplacement. However given the parkland location it is equally possible that this is the remains of a parkland feature such as a pond.
