Full Description
December 2006. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of a trapezoidal enclosure of possible Roman date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3039 1916. The enclosure has a trapezoidal, almost triangular plan which measures 70m long by between 35m and 58m wide. A 10m wide section at its northern end is sub-divided by a short section of linear ditch. A 39m long linear ditch cropmark extends to its north. The southern part of this enclosure overlaps a trackway of Roman date that forms part of a field system (NHER 49180). It is not clear which of the cropmarks are earlier but it is possible that they relate to different phases of Roman activity.
