Map

October 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a ring ditch, probably the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Cherry Lane, Belton with Browston (S1). The ring ditch is centred on TG 4953 0187 and is 27.5m in diameter. This ring ditch is located within an area of complex cropmarks, see NHER 45213 for details. Another possible ring ditch is located to the immediate east (NHER 45212). Both of these possible barrows are located to the east of a section of trackway of probable late prehistoric date (NHER 45178) that may form part of a wider network of trackways further to the east (43544). These barrows are located just above the 10m contour and overlook a minor branch of the Fritton valley to the south. To the east another group of barrows also overlook the valley (NHER 17225, 45168-72). The trackway system (43544 and 45178) appears to be sited alongside these barrows. Another group of round barrows (NHER 12777, 13432, 45207-8) is located to the north on the slightly higher ground above the valley.
