Summary

A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey of part of this field in 2006 recovered a notable number of prehistoric worked flints, ?prehistoric burnt flints, single sherds of prehistoric and Roman pottery, undatable metal-working debris fragments, a post-medieval coin and a small number of other post-medieval and undatable metal objects. These metal finds included a post-medieval buckle, lead disc and copper alloy cast fitting and various undatable lead items. revealed a large cluster of prehistoric worked flint, as well as a single sherd of prehistoric pottery, a sherd of Roman pottery and a single post-medieval coin. A geophysical survey undertaken in 2009 identified several anomalies that may represent ploughed out-ditches. A small section of a previously identified enclosure (NHER 18131) was also located. Trial trenching in 2010 identified a number of undated features, including several ditches.

77 prehistoric worked flints.
1 Late Prehistoric pottery sherd.
10 ?prehistoric
1 Roman pottery sherd.
1 post-medieval coin, 1 buckle, 1 copper alloy cast fitting and 1 lead stamped disc.
3 undatable metal-working debris fragments, 1 piece of lead shot, 1 lead rivet, 1 lead disc, 4 lead waste fragments, 4 lead sheet fragments, 2 lead strips and 1 lead offcut.
