Summary

A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detector survey undertaken in 2006 recovered a small assemblage of finds comprising prehistoric worked flints; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; post-medieval ceramic building material; undated metal-working debris and a number of other, post-medieval and undated metal objects. The metal finds include a post-medieval copper alloy and silver finger ring and a lead cloth seal of uncertain date.

September 2006. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Route (Field 69). Finds recovered included:
36 pieces of prehistoric worked flint.
1 Roman pottery sherd.
4 medieval pottery sherds.
1 post-medieval pottery sherd, 6 ceramic building material fragments, 1 silver and copper alloy finger ring and 1 copper alloy fitting.
1 undated lead cloth seal and 3 fragments of metalworking debris (presumably iron slag).

A cropmark of a possible Iron Age-Roman D-shaped enclosure was observed on aerial photographs within this area and has been recorded as NHER 51955.
