The pipe tong fragment was initial recorded as a post-medieval unidentified object. It was noted in July 2012 that it was almost certainly part of the same implement as an object found between December 2007 and April 2008, which had also initially been recorded as unidentified (it was identified as from a pipe tong in 2009).

The pipe tong fragment was initial recorded as a post-medieval unidentified object. It was identified by Dr Naomi Payne in 2009 (see note in file) and subsequently recognised as being probably part of the same implement as a fragment found in March-September 2007.
